Oh Danny Boy
My Grandpa would sing all the time, but this was his favorite song. I had to brush up on the lyrics, since we sang it TWICE: first at the wake and then at the reception after the funeral the next day.

My Dunny
Dr. Thomas Joseph Donovan
My mother's father

This is my favorite old picture of them, my Grandpa and his siblings--they look so happy! Dunny on the left. He looks just like my Mom.

I really like his work. Both aesthetically beautiful and a strong message behind it, as well. I tend to see it in a positive light--we are not so different, we are unified, etc. I suppose one could twist it into an ominous point of view on a lack of individuality, we are part of the machine, the masses smother the individual, and so on. But I don't see that in his work, personally.

My mom sent me this picture
Apparently my dog sleeps on my bed now "because she misses me." Or she's just happy there's no one else on it to take up space...
